YAMAGATA America Helps U.S. Businesses Go Green

– New Printing Service Uses 100 Percent Post Consumer Recycled Papers –

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In an effort to minimize the environmental footprint of U.S. businesses, Yamagata America has introduced a new Green Printing service that uses 100 percent and 40 percent post-consumer recycled paper.

Using renewable energy, Yamagata’s new service produces manuals, catalogs and directories that meet or exceed all industry quality standards and offers competitive pricing. The service reduces waste and pollution by using non-traditional bio mass fuels, such as wood waste that has historically been burned or dumped into landfills. All materials are produced and printed in the United States.

For every ton of paper printed on 100 percent recycled paper, Yamagata Green Printing saves:

10,052 gallons of water
14 million BTUs
1120 pounds of solid waste
2210 pounds of greenhouse gasses

“Yamagata Green Printing lets U.S. businesses show their customers how much they really do care about the environment,” said Dice Sakurai, Yamagata America print operations manager. “With 100 percent consumer recycled paper, we can offer everything from product manuals to tech support books without cutting down a single tree or burning any fossil fuels.”

The new service stems directly from Yamagata’s recent ISO 14001:2004 certification – the ISO standard for successfully implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS). Yamagata meets this standard by managing all of its products and services in ways that reduce negative and increase positive environmental impacts. From equipment to ink and paper selection, every business decision is made in the best interest of the environment. As a result, green businesses can retain their high environmental standards by working with Yamagata.

Global Standards

Yamagata helps companies successfully meet and exceed the highest environmental standards in the world. This even includes the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive – the world’s environmental benchmark. RoHS prohibits European Union (EU) countries from importing electrical and electronic products containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

Like the rest of an electrical or electronic packaged product, product manuals are subject to RoHS and other environmental standards. By conducing laboratory tests on everything from paper and ink to stitching wire and glue, Yamagata certifies that its product manuals can be legally shipped anywhere in the world.

Yamagata America Inc.

Established in 1989, Yamagata America Inc. helps companies transcend language, cultural and geographic barriers to effectively communicate with customers around the world. Copy is translated to accurately reflect regional nuances and cultural tradition. Web sites, data sheets and product manuals are produced with the right look for target markets. Documents are printed and distributed when and where they are needed.

With ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications, Yamagata is dedicated to constantly improving its business practices. These prestigious certifications signify that every aspect of Yamagata business, from tools and processes to the final product, are of the highest quality and environmentally safe.

QA Distiller: Automated Translation Quality Control

Ycomm Europe, an integrated documentation services provider, is proud to announce the product launch of QA Distiller and ColourProof, part of an integrated Translation Quality Control service.
Ycomm Europe has identified the need to automatically detect measurable errors or defects in translations, and has therefore developed QA Distiller, a fully automated quality assurance tool that scans bilingual files and translation memories for omissions, inconsistencies, formatting issues and terminology mistakes.

QA Distiller provides a reliable, objective and consistent way to analyse and evaluate translation quality. It traces measurable mistakes and enables users to fix errors quickly. The design and development have been driven primarily by the need for a robust procedure for quickly evaluating translation quality and, if needed, improving it.

QA Distiller was successfully demonstrated at the LISA Forums in St. Petersburg and Paris. Recently it also received critical acclaim at the Localisation World Conference in Bonn, indicating a huge interest and need in the industry for automated QA solutions.

Ycomm has also developed ColourProof, a proofreading tool that allows proofreaders to have more control over the change management in the documentation process. ColourProof generates colour-coded PDF files, highlighting in different colours the segments that are retrieved from a translation memory and newly-translated or modified segments.

Ycomm’s customers already benefit from this automated and integrated quality assurance approach. Ycomm Europe now also offers Translation Quality Control as a separate service. Customers can have their translation memories checked, before the “garbage in, garbage out” downslide starts, or receive an objective vendor evaluation. With this unique service, Ycomm effectively adds value to the localisation process, and paves the way for trust-based relationships with customers.

If you want to know how this QA approach can be implemented in your localisation process, check out www.QA-Distiller.com or contact us at QA-Distiller@ycomm-europe.com.
